I received a call from the PCP's office telling me that they are working on getting my referral to a cardiologist set up and just wanted to update me on their progress. My response was, why? I had no clue that I was being referred to a cardiologist. What has prompted this action? The person who called had no information on the why.
I am now left wondering...and of course, worrying. I have an appointment to see my PCP tomorrow morning, so hopefully I will get some answers then. There goes my anxiety levels again.

Cardiology appts before surgery, especially for this type of surgery with overweight people is VERY common and nothing to be concerned about
Thank you for the reassurance!
Bev-They are trying to assess your overall health, including your ability to survive surgery and recover okay afterwards. The more tests, doctors you see now, hopefully the less chance you'll have to experience all the problems my mom did with her WLS. This is a GOOD thing!
I think your other readers comments are correct, they want to check the strength of your heart before any procedures. Same thing has happened to me several times before a major surgery. Let us know how it goes, I think it will be fine. Quiet your nerves and take care, I'm sure they have your best interest at heart. Linda
